Optum (Change Healthcare) Experiencing Network Issues
Incident Report for Healthie
Update
An Update on Change Healthcare (Optum) Clinical Exchange Lab Orders and Results Integration
As you may have already noticed, Change Healthcare Clinical Exchange (the portal that is part of Healthie's e-Lab integration) is now available online. It appears that historical records of labs orders/results are available on Clinical Exchange as expected. However there are some important differences in the current feature functionality that should be called out:

So far only Labcorp and Quest are reconnected. Additional labs will be reconnected weekly.

Electronic ordering is not yet available. This means that lab orders can be printed/downloaded to be provided to the patient. Patients will need to take their order paperwork with them to their lab appointments. Results will be returned electronically.

All users accessing Clinical Exchange directly would need to update current login credentials to an (Optum) One Healthcare ID (which includes multi-factor authentication).

Healthie is currently conducting testing to confirm users can access the integration as expected. We will provide regular updates as we move toward re-establishing this integration.

Update
Optum/Change Healthcare has communicated that they expect to have some parts of Clinical Exchange Lab Orders and Results available to our customers the first week of April. However, getting lab partners (such as Quest or Labcorp, etc.) back online will take longer and would be expected in the following week(s).

To the question of whether patient health information has been compromised, Optum privacy office and security information teams are engaged and are still working to understand the impact to members, patients and customers.

As Healthie learns more details about timelines toward restoration or statements of impact, we will continue to share information with you.

Update
A Note from Healthie: At this time, it's unclear how long the Change Healthcare downtime will last. In a call with hospital executives, a United Health executive implied it could be weeks until the outage ends. Healthie offers a variety of clearinghouse partners, including Office Ally, who can be used while Change is down. If you're already using another third-party billing partner, please reach out directly to your point of contact that company for more on how they may be impacted. Healthie is a separate system from Change's offerings and Healthie's systems are unimpacted.

From Optum Change Healthcare: "Change Healthcare can confirm we are experiencing a cybersecurity issue perpetrated by a cybercrime threat actor who has represented itself to us as ALPHV/Blackcat.

Our experts are working to address the matter and we are working closely with law enforcement and leading third-party consultants, Mandiant and Palo Alto Network, on this attack against Change Healthcare's systems. We are actively working to understand the impact to members, patients and customers.

Patient care is our top priority, and we have multiple workarounds to ensure people have access to the medications and the care they need. Based on our ongoing investigation, there's no indication that Optum, UnitedHealthcare and UnitedHealth Group systems have been affected by this issue.

We are working on multiple approaches to restored the impacted environment and continue to be proactive and aggressive with all our systems, and if we suspect any issue with the system, we will immediately take action."
